Declaration of Independence

  • Watch the Declaration video and have the students listen for words they hear (names, dates, places importantant words)
  • Video on history and purpose of the Declaration of Independence
  • Students share the words they hear and write them in Notebook (discuss some if necessary--definition of word, etc)
  • Show the video again to students asking them to listen for the words they have listed, try to define those words (e.g. who was Thomas Jefferson) and add new words and ideas.
  • Read Amazing America Read pages 1-3
  • Sign the Declaration of Independence students can sign the Declaration of Independence and print it off.
